For ongoing volunteers, we ask for a commitment of at least 2 hours per week at breakfast time.
Volunteer training is very quick; we just like those who consider volunteering to come in and spend 2 hours with us.
Volunteers are required to sign of a Waiver Form. Volunteers under 18 y. o. need a parent/guardian’s signature.

Opportunities for Schools, Businesses or other Groups
-
Food Drives can be done simply for non-perishable items. Here are some examples of items needed:
Peanut Butter
Jelly or Jam
Cans of Tuna Fish
Coffee and Tea
Apple Juice
It all begins one person taking the initiative to start a food drive. It’s about passing the message to others and so useful to fight hunger. Contact Pierre@sflivingroom.org for questions.

One person can make a difference in organizing in a school, a company, or even a neighborhood, a fundraiser benefiting the St. Francis Living Room. Contact Pierre@sflivingroom.org when you need assistance. Note that Pierre has organized in his neighborhood a fundraiser for another organization for the past 11 years. Click HERE for a CBS report about how 1 person can make a difference.

Your group is able to contribute to this homeless and low-income senior non-profit by assembling something that would lift the spirit of our clients. It can be very simple thing that are very simple but meaningful such as Cards for any Holiday, Bags of goodies, or small handmade gifts. Your school group can make a difference. Contact Pierre@sflivingroom.org when you need assistance.

We welcome extra food from neighboring schools and businesses. Food is a precious commodity and we do not throw away the food that homeless and/or low income seniors do need. This is a simple way to fight hunger in our community at no cost to anyone. In addition there is a need to reduce disposal of organic material in landfills to be able to meet California Climate goals.
If your school or business cafeteria/restaurant, or other business has extra breakfast or lunch food, let us know.
-
Groups of 5 volunteers are welcome at the St. Francis Living Room for the breakfast service. This gives the time to even sit down with our clients and learn about them more deeply. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
